YP Resilience Worker

We have a current opportunity for a Young Person’s Resilience Worker on a fixed term contract for 9 months. The position will be based in Walsall. For further information about this position please apply.

Location: Walsall

Hours: 37 Monday – Friday 09:00 – 17:00

Salary range: £27,445 – £31,445 depending upon experience

Type: Fixed Term Contract ( 9 months )

Sector: Substance Misuse

Key Responsibilities:

  • To engage young people in a range of interventions, utilising a young persons centred approach, empowering them to reduce risk, increase resilience and lead a safe and happy life.
  • Provide screening, assessment, psychosocial interventions, integrated care planning & post treatment support.
  • Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community
  • Deliver a personalised package of care which will include – phsyco social interventions, 121 key working, group work , clinical interventions, harm minimisation & whole family interventions.
  • Complete service user assessments and develop individual care plans that will identify clear how each goal will be achieved
  • Support and provide advocacy fir young people by participating in multi agency meeting such as Child protection meetings, complex case review panels and team around the child meetings.
  • To use and asses Gillick Competency ( in line with Fraser Guidelines ) for young people under the age of 16.
  • Work and liaise with other agencies involved with the young persons care such as criminal justice services, GP’s , Mental health Teams and youth workers.
  • Where appropriate assist and carry out appropriate screening processes which include DBST, Urine and Saliva tests.
  • Carry out harm reduction strategies such as needle exchange and distribution of Naloxone after completion of relevant training.

Person Specification:

  • Experience working with young people with multiple complex needs.
  • Excellent understanding of drug and alcohol issues & experience within the substance misuse field.
  • Counselling and group work experience would be desirable.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner.
