Specialist Support Tutor (Merseyside)

Position: Specialist Support Tutor
Location: Merseyside
Salary: £23,046.00 – £35,376.00 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent (temporary will be considered)

Morgan Hunt are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Specialist Support Tutor to join a dedicated and experienced ALS team at a college in Merseyside. The Specialist Support Tutor will provide comprehensive support and exam access arrangements for students with a diverse range of learning differences, disabilities, sensory impairments, and medical conditions. The goal is to ensure that all students receive the tailored support they need to succeed in their studies and achieve their full potential.

As a Specialist Support Tutor, you will play a crucial role in delivering personalised academic support, both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, across all levels of study. You will work closely with students to develop and implement Learner Support Plans and ensure they have the necessary exam access arrangements in place.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored academic support for students with learning differences, disabilities, and medical conditions.
  • Complete and maintain accurate Learner Support Plans for students.
  • Assess students’ needs and implement exam access arrangements in line with JCQ guidelines.
  • Offer 1:1 support to learners across a variety of subjects and academic levels.
  • Write clear, detailed, and professional reports on student progress and needs.
  • Collaborate with academic staff and the wider Learner Support Team to ensure effective support is in place for all students.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., DTLLS, Cert Ed, or other Post-16 equivalent).
  • A qualification that meets JCQ requirements for Assessors of Exam Access Arrangements.
  • Proven experience in writing detailed reports and creating accurate support plans.
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting learners on a 1:1 basis, particularly in relation to academic work across all levels of study.
  • A strong understanding of the needs of students with diverse learning requirements, including disabilities, sensory impairments, and medical conditions.

Desirable Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and supporting students in achieving their academic goals.
