Join the team as a Safeguarding Officer!
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people? We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Safeguarding Officer to join the team at a FE college in the South Yorkshire area. You will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our pupils, working closely with the Safeguarding Manager to address any safeguarding or child protection issues that arise. This role not only offers an opportunity to contribute to safeguarding but also involves managing student attendance to ensure that all pupils receive the full benefit of their education.
Key Responsibilities:
* Child Protection & Safeguarding: Provide support to the Safeguarding Manager by responding appropriately to disclosures, making referrals to the relevant authorities, and ensuring accurate, detailed records are securely maintained.
* Inter-agency Collaboration: Participate in strategy discussions and multi-agency meetings, contributing to the assessment and planning for children at risk, while promoting effective communication between colleagues and external organisations.
* Early Help & Referrals: Work closely with families and external agencies, providing Early Help by making timely referrals when issues emerge and ensuring that all actions are effectively coordinated to make a tangible difference in children’s lives.
* Parental Outreach: Make home visits when necessary to support families, offering advice and strategies to help resolve any concerns or challenges they may face.
* Statutory Compliance: Assist the Safeguarding Manager to ensure that the academy adheres to all statutory safeguarding requirements and that staff training is up to date.
* Attendance Oversight: Monitor student attendance, follow up on absences, and liaise with parents and external agencies to support children in achieving regular school attendance.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced safeguarding professional who is ready to take on an essential role in a vibrant and supportive educational setting.
To be successful in your application, you will need to demonstrate an effective and creative approach to education, a passion for your subject and a commitment to supporting the development of the department.
In line with our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students, the appointment will be subject to an enhanced criminal record check and satisfactory references.
