Job Title: Outreach Navigator

Job Type: Temporary to permanent

Location: Birmingham

The organisation

In this Outreach Navigator opportunity in Birmingham, you will join an organisation who help 16-25 year olds who find themselves homeless and are currently rough sleeping. You will be helping to identify barriers of securing accommodation and helping young people to maintain a positive pathway.

Key responsibilities

In this Outreach Navigator job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Being an active member of the community – going out daily, rain or sunshine, to engage young people with the service and provide help where necessary
  • Assess and take down notes detailing housing assessments to ensure the prevention of homelessness
  • Work with young people with complex and multiple needs to help them to sustain tenancies and manage their lives better
  • Safeguard young people and vulnerable adults at risk, through appropriate escalation and reporting to statutory services e.g. Inter-agency referral and follow up work.
  • Actively encourage vulnerable young people to move into appropriate accommodation

Skills & experience of an Outreach Navigator

  • Prove track record of working In homelessness
  • Ale to work outside when required covering the whole of Birmingham
  • Flexible to work evenings / weekends If required – will get time off In lieu
  • DBS on the update service – Enhanced Child and Adult Cleared
