Internal Communications & Engagement Partner (Contract – Day Rate, Until Christmas)
Flexible hybrid working – UK-based
A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced communications and engagement professional to join a respected and mission-driven organisation on a day rate contract until Christmas. This short-term role will play a vital part in delivering internal communications, embedding culture change, and improving the experience of both employees and volunteers during a period of significant transformation.
The organisation, a long-established charity with a national footprint, delivers life-saving services and skills across communities. With a diverse workforce and a large volunteer base, they provide frontline and outreach support including emergency response, training, and public engagement programmes. As a trusted presence in the community for generations, they are evolving to meet future challenges with a renewed focus on wellbeing, inclusivity, and sustainable growth.
This is a hands-on, strategic role suited to someone confident in creating and delivering effective internal communications and engagement plans. The successful candidate will work closely with transformation leads and HR to design initiatives that foster psychological safety, inclusivity, and belonging. You’ll be responsible for developing a compelling people narrative, managing regular staff pulse surveys, and advising managers on how to respond to feedback.
You will:
Lead the development of an internal communications and engagement strategy aligned with organisational priorities
Create a two-way communications plan that informs, connects, and inspires
Shape messaging around transformation and culture change
Design and deliver employee and volunteer engagement initiatives and events
Provide actionable insight using performance data and survey feedback
Drive campaigns that improve wellbeing and foster a strong internal community
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
Demonstrable experience in internal communications and engagement
A relevant qualification (e.g., CIPR, CIM or equivalent)
Proven success in embedding cultural change through communications strategy
A collaborative approach and ability to influence across varied stakeholder groups
Strong writing skills, and the ability to simplify complex information into clear, engaging content
Experience working within the charity, healthcare or public sector (desirable)
This contract role is offered on a day rate basis until Christmas, with hybrid flexible working arrangements. You’ll be joining a supportive team within an impactful organisation during a pivotal moment of change.
If you’re ready to bring your communication expertise to a purpose-driven environment, we’d love to hear from you.
