Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of families affected by domestic abuse? Do you have experience supporting survivors, children, and those with complex needs? If so, we want to hear from you.

We are seeking a Women and Children’s Support Officer to join a dynamic domestic abuse service delivering holistic, trauma-informed, and child-centred support across the community. This role focuses on increasing the safety, wellbeing, and freedom of women and children affected by domestic abuse, while also engaging perpetrators through behaviour change interventions.

About the Role:

As a Senior Family Support Worker, you’ll be a key part of a multi-agency team offering early intervention and wraparound support to families. You will:

  • Undertake safety planning and risk assessments (DASH) with survivors.
  • Provide emotional and practical support to women and children.
  • Use motivational interviewing to engage perpetrators in change programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with social care teams, schools, health services and other agencies.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and contribute to strategy discussions, MARAC and safeguarding processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with families referred through police, health, or social services.
  • Provide advocacy and link families to therapeutic and practical support.
  • Ensure children affected by domestic abuse receive appropriate services.
  • Support service development by gathering feedback and identifying gaps.
  • Work inclusively with diverse communities, including those with complex needs or limited access to public funds.

About You:

You will have:

  • A recognised relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ 3, NNEB or equivalent).
  • Significant experience working with families and children in crisis.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic abuse dynamics and safeguarding frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and partnership working skills.
  • Confidence in managing a complex caseload independently and within a team.

What We Offer:

  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Clinical supervision and reflective practice
  • Opportunities to influence service design and delivery
  • A collaborative, supportive working environment focused on impact

This is an excellent opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable women and children, while contributing to systemic change.

Apply now to be part of a team that places survivors and their children at the heart of everything it does.
