My client is a successful and over-subscribed prep school who is looking for an experienced financial or management accountant to cover a period of maternity leave. Ideally the position would commence in July 2025 to ensure a suitable handover period. This is a critical position within the School and as such, I am seeking someone to work 8am-5pm, 5 days per week, full-time, on-site at their beautiful school premises, just outside Abingdon. The working pattern is potentially negotiable depending on individual circumstances. The role will sit within a Finance team of three, including the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) and the Bursary Administrator.

The successful canddiate should be able to demonstrate most of the following characteristics:

2+ years’ experience in a mid-level financial or management accounting role
Working towards an accounting qualification
Experienced in the independent schools sector
Previous user of WCBS PASS for financial processing (alternatively, an experienced user of another financial system)
Competent at learning a wide range of financial processes quickly, and using initiative to overcome gaps in knowledge

Competent user of MS Excel and Word
Experience of supporting management in a fast paced environment
An excellent command of English to ensure professional communications with a range of internal and external people
Highly literate, self-motivated and pro-active
An exceptional level of accuracy; a keen eye for detail.
