Supported Employability Specialist

📍 Birmingham (Community-Based Role)

💰 £30,000 per annum

⏰ 36.5 hours per week

📅 Fixed-Term Contract until 31 March 2028 (with potential extension, subject to funding)

Are you passionate about helping people overcome barriers and achieve sustainable employment? We are looking for a dedicated Supported Employability Specialist to join a life-changing, government-backed programme supporting unemployed and economically inactive young adults aged 18-25 into meaningful work.

This rewarding role combines employability support, employer engagement, job coaching, and outreach work, helping individuals build confidence, develop skills, secure employment, and remain successful in work.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one employability support, action planning, and job coaching.
• Build relationships with local employers and generate suitable job opportunities.
• Source work experience, apprenticeships, traineeships, and employment pathways.
• Support clients with job searches, applications, and workplace adjustments.
• Provide ongoing in-work support to help individuals sustain employment.
• Develop partnerships with training providers, colleges, and community organisations.
• Promote the service through outreach activities, networking events, and job fairs.
• Maintain accurate records, monitor outcomes, and produce reports.

About You

We are keen to hear from candidates who have:

• Experience supporting individuals with disabilities, mental health conditions, learning disabilities, or other health-related barriers to employment.
• Experience in employer engagement, recruitment, or job brokerage.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and data management systems.
• A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
• The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and travel across Birmingham as required.

Experience within employability programmes, Supported Employment, IPS services, careers guidance, training delivery, or welfare-to-work services would be highly advantageous. [
