Social Care IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advocate)

Location: West London (co-located with Family and Children’s Services)

Hours: Full-time

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm / 1 day working from home, 4 days in the office / community

Contract: temporary, 3 months with potential to extend

Salary: £15-20 per hour


We are recruiting a Social Care IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advocate) to work in partnership with Children’s Social Care in West London.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to work directly with women and their children, supporting them to be safe and rebuild their lives.


About the Role

As a Social Care IDVA, you will:

  • Provide high-quality crisis intervention, advocacy and ongoing support to women experiencing domestic abuse, ensuring their voices are heard in safeguarding and care proceedings.
  • Work closely with Family and Children’s Services to embed early intervention and best practice in domestic abuse prevention.
  • Deliver risk assessments, safety planning and support for women with complex and multiple needs.
  • Support and advise women on their rights, options and access to housing, legal, health and welfare support.
  • Raise awareness and upskill social care professionals on domestic abuse through casework and training.
  • Actively participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to safeguarding and MARAC processes.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled and resilient advocate who is passionate about improving outcomes for women and children. You will have:

  • Experience of working with women affected by domestic violence and safeguarding procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of the impact of domestic abuse on women, children and families.
  • Proven ability in risk assessment, safety planning and partnership working.
  • Excellent communication, advocacy and crisis management skills.
  • Confidence in working collaboratively with social workers and other professionals.

A relevant qualification in domestic violence, social work, criminal justice or a related field is desirable.
