🛡️ Senior Safeguarding Officer

Location: Bromley

Salary: Negotiable

Contract Type: [Full-time Fixed-term]

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Safeguarding Officer to lead and strengthen our safeguarding practices. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children, young people, or vulnerable adults, while supporting staff and promoting a strong safeguarding culture across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on safeguarding cases, ensuring timely and appropriate action is taken
  • Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or deputy DSL where required
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to staff on safeguarding and child protection matters
  • Manage referrals to external agencies, including social services and local authorities
  • Develop, implement, and review safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Deliver safeguarding training and awareness sessions to staff
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date safeguarding records
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners
  • Monitor compliance with safeguarding legislation and best practice

Requirements

  • Significant experience in a safeguarding or child protection role
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Experience managing complex safeguarding cases
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and organisational skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion
  • A relevant qualification in safeguarding, social work, education, or a related field

Desirable

  • Experience in education, healthcare, or social care settings
  • Training qualification or experience delivering staff training
  • Leadership or supervisory experience
