Senior Risk Lawyer

Location: London / Hybrid

Salary: Circa £130,000 per annum

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

A leading international law firm is looking to appoint a Senior Risk Lawyer to join its established Risk & Compliance function in London.

Reporting into the Head of Legal Risk, this is a broad legal advisory role supporting senior stakeholders across the firm’s Risk & Compliance function and wider business. The successful candidate will advise on a range of legal, regulatory, professional conduct and risk matters across the firm’s international operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing legal advice across a broad range of Risk & Compliance matters, including professional conduct, ethics, conflicts, financial crime, sanctions, contractual issues, confidentiality, data protection and emerging areas such as AI.

Advising on regulatory developments and identifying changes that may affect the firm’s operations.

Drafting and updating policies, procedures and internal guidance.

Working closely with Risk & Compliance colleagues, business services teams and fee earners across multiple jurisdictions.

Supporting compliance monitoring, registers and wider governance requirements.

Providing advice on sensitive and complex matters, exercising a high degree of discretion and judgement.

Contributing to training and, where required, supporting matters relating to claims and complaints.

Working with colleagues across the firm’s international network, including occasional travel where required.

The successful candidate will be:

A qualified England & Wales solicitor, ideally with 6-10 years’ PQE.

Experienced within the Risk function of an international law firm, with at least three years’ relevant experience.

Highly knowledgeable of the SRA regulatory framework and Code of Conduct.

Experienced advising on areas including financial crime/AML and sanctions, conflicts, confidentiality, privilege, data protection and contractual matters.

A confident communicator able to work effectively with senior stakeholders and provide clear, pragmatic advice.

Highly analytical, organised and able to prioritise effectively.

Discreet, diplomatic and comfortable handling confidential and sensitive issues.

Flexible and willing to travel internationally when required.

Experience delivering training and dealing with claims or complaints would be advantageous.

The Package

Salary: Circa £130,000 per annum

Working arrangement: London-based with hybrid working, with a minimum expectation of 60% office attendance.
