Description

Morgan Hunt is pleased to be given the responsibility of bringing a Senior PR & Marketing Officer role to the market for ILF Scotland. ILF Scotland is a Non Departmental Public Body (NDPB) in Scotland constituted as a company by limited guarantee. It was created following the closure of the UK ILF in June 2015 and has been administering ILF funding for existing fund recipients in Scotland and Northern Ireland since 1 July 2015. In April 2024, the Independent Living Fund re-opened to new applicants in Scotland.

ILF Scotland distributes annual funding of around £62m to support recipients to lead independent lives. The organisation has a staff team of around 80, who provide services for approximately 5,500 current fund recipients split between the Independent Living Fund and Transition Fund.


The Role

ILF Scotland are looking for a talented and creative Senior PR & Marketing Officer to help raise awareness of ILF Scotland, champion lived experience storytelling, and maximise the visibility and impact of their work across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

This is a varied role where you will:

  • Lead PR and media activity, pitching stories, producing press materials and building journalist relationships
  • Create engaging and accessible content across multiple channels
  • Drive digital marketing and social media strategies
  • Produce powerful case studies showcasing the difference ILF Scotland makes
  • Shape brand presence through key publications and marketing campaigns
  • Support internal communications and organisational recognition

You’ll be part of a collaborative Communications Team who are passionate about inclusive communications and the voices of disabled people


Key Responsibilities

Public Relations & Campaign Delivery

  • Write high-quality press releases, media materials, articles, blogs and thought leadership pieces

  • Maintain strong media relationships and manage enquiries

  • Support crisis and issues management with timely and accurate messaging

  • Produce PR assets including photography, video, graphics and podcasts

  • Maintain media monitoring processes and contacts database

  • Represent ILF Scotland at PR events and opportunities

  • Develop compelling case studies with recipients, including site visits where required

Digital Marketing & Content Management

  • Create and deliver marketing publications and promotional materials for events and campaigns

  • Lead targeted email campaigns using platforms such as Mailchimp or Campaign Monitor

  • Manage and update website and blog content using CMS such as WordPress / Umbraco

  • Oversee social media scheduling, content calendars and digital asset logs

  • Analyse performance data using analytics tools and provide insight for improvement

  • Ensure accessibility, brand consistency and creative standards across all channels

  • Produce materials in alternative formats including easy read and translated versions

Collaborative Communications

  • Support improvements to internal communications channels

  • Lead or support award applications

  • Contribute to events, corporate publications and organisational campaigns


About You

You will bring:

  • Experience in a PR, communications or digital marketing role
  • Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills across formats and audiences
  • Confidence influencing media, stakeholders and colleagues
  • Strong planning and project delivery skills in fast-moving environments
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with high attention to detail
  • Proficiency with digital tools – including social media scheduling, CMS platforms and analytics
  • Experience with creative tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Suite) and multimedia production
  • A proactive, values-led approach with commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion

Experience in public sector, social care or third sector settings and knowledge of AI tools for communications would be beneficial.
