Job Title: Senior Business Analyst (GDS)
Location: Hybrid – 1 day per week in Glasgow, London or Cardiff office
Contract: 6 months
Day Rate: £550 (Inside IR35)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst with a strong background in Government Digital Service (GDS) standards to join a leading government organisation on a 6-month contract. You will play a key role in delivering user-centred digital services, working closely with stakeholders, product owners, and delivery teams to shape and refine business requirements, processes, and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead on the analysis of business needs, capturing and prioritising requirements in line with GDS principles.

Facilitate workshops, interviews, and focus groups to elicit requirements and define user needs.

Work collaboratively with Product Managers, Service Designers, Delivery Managers, and Technical Teams to design effective solutions.

Map and document complex business processes, ensuring alignment with digital service standards.

Provide insight and challenge to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and deliver measurable value.

Support the preparation of business cases, options appraisals, and impact assessments.

Champion user-centred design, accessibility, and inclusion across all service areas.

Act as a subject matter expert in GDS best practices, contributing to continuous improvement across the team.

Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst within government or large-scale public sector digital transformation programmes.

Strong knowledge of GDS principles, including service assessments, user-centred design, and agile delivery.

Demonstrable experience of working in multi-disciplinary agile teams.

Excellent stakeholder management and facilitation skills, able to influence and challenge constructively.

Experience in producing high-quality business analysis artefacts such as process maps, user stories, acceptance criteria, and service blueprints.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desirable

Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, or equivalent.

Familiarity with service design and user research practices.

Knowledge of data analysis and reporting techniques.
