A learner making a choice, engaging with a sensory activity or finding a new way to communicate can represent a significant achievement.

Morgan Hunt is keen to hear from SEND Lecturers with experience teaching learners with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and complex needs, for upcoming opportunities within further education across East London.

The role

Typical responsibilities include:

• Planning accessible lessons around learners’ individual needs, interests and EHCP outcomes.

• Delivering sensory activities that encourage engagement and participation.

• Using total communication approaches, including appropriate visual resources, objects of reference and communication aids.

• Developing learners’ communication, independence and everyday skills.

• Recognising and recording progress, including small but meaningful achievements.

• Working closely with support staff, therapists and families to provide consistent support.

About you

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

• Experience teaching learners with PMLD and complex needs.

• A teaching qualification, or are working towards one.

• Experience adapting lessons for learners working at early developmental levels.

• Knowledge of person-centred planning and total communication.

• A patient, creative approach and high expectations for every learner.

• Experience within further education or a specialist education setting.
