The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Patisserie Lecturer to join an established Further Education college in Manchester.

The role will involve delivering Level 2 Patisserie to FE learners, with a focus on developing students’ practical skills, technical knowledge and understanding of professional patisserie standards.

This is a temporary opportunity running from the start of the September term through to October Half Term, working Thursdays and Fridays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and practical Level 2 Patisserie sessions to FE learners.
  • Plan and prepare lessons in line with the relevant qualification and curriculum requirements.
  • Deliver practical demonstrations and support students in developing their patisserie techniques.
  • Cover relevant theoretical knowledge alongside practical delivery.
  • Assess learner work and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support students in preparing for practical assessments and qualification requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety and professional kitchen practice.
  • Monitor learner progress, attendance and engagement.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider Hospitality & Catering curriculum team.

Requirements

  • Strong professional experience within Patisserie / Professional Cookery.
  • Experience delivering or teaching Patisserie, ideally within an FE environment.
  • Relevant industry qualifications and/or substantial professional industry experience.
  • Teaching or training experience is desirable.
  • Strong practical knowledge of professional patisserie techniques and standards.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
