Morgan Hunt are currently working with a National Regulator in their search for an Interim Market Risk & Analytics Lead to join on an initial 6-month basis. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping a new market risk capability, helping a major regulator better understand, assess and respond to risks across a complex and evolving professional services market.

This is a newly created role, established to support the development of an evidence-based market risk assessment framework. Working closely with senior leaders, specialist analysts and external consultants, you will lead the operational mobilisation of a new market risk capability, helping to translate strategic concepts into practical analytical processes, frameworks and outputs.

A core part of the role will involve developing approaches to identify, assess and quantify market risks across a regulated sector. You will utilise a range of research, analytical and quantitative methods to understand market dynamics, assess probability and impact, and generate meaningful insights to inform regulatory decision-making. This will include interpreting large and complex datasets, developing risk models, horizon scanning for emerging risks, and translating analysis into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.

The role also has a significant organisational development element. You will work collaboratively with leaders across the organisation to help design and embed an integrated risk and insight function, supporting the development of processes, operating models, role profiles and future capability requirements. As the organisation builds its long-term market risk function, you will help establish the foundations for future recruitment and handover activity.

This is a highly visible and influential role requiring someone who can quickly establish credibility with senior stakeholders, challenge constructively where necessary, and maintain a strong focus on evidence-based decision making. You will be working alongside highly qualified professionals and subject matter experts, requiring confidence, intellectual curiosity and the ability to communicate complex analysis in an accessible and persuasive manner.

The successful candidate is likely to come from a background in economics, actuarial science, advanced analytics, market intelligence, regulatory risk or quantitative research. Experience within financial services, economic regulation, government, consulting or similarly analytical environments would be highly advantageous.
