LGBT+ Hate Crime Triage Worker

Location: London (Hybrid – minimum 2 days per week in the office)

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Contract: 3-month temp contract with potential to extend

Salary: £15-20 per hour

About the Role

We’re looking for a compassionate and proactive Hate Crime Triage Worker to join our team, providing frontline support to individuals affected by hate crime across London.

In this vital role, you’ll be the first point of contact for people referred into our hate crime service. You’ll assess their needs, provide one-off support or short-term interventions, and connect them with the right specialist advocacy services for ongoing help.

Working as part of a cross-partnership project that supports victims of hate crime motivated by race, faith, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity, you’ll ensure each person feels heard, respected, and supported in a safe, non-judgmental way.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed, inclusive, and non-judgmental support to victims of hate crime.
• Complete triage assessments, identify risk or safeguarding issues, and determine appropriate next steps.
• Offer practical advice, information, and short-term emotional support to clients.
• Make referrals to specialist advocacy partners and statutory or community services where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate client records and monitoring data using the organisation’s CRM system.
• Attend partnership meetings, training sessions, and reflective practice opportunities.
• Contribute to identifying trends in service data and developing good practice in hate crime support.

About You

You’ll be an empathetic and skilled communicator, able to listen carefully and respond calmly and professionally to people in distress. You’ll bring strong values around equality, inclusion, and empowerment, and will be confident working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities.

You will have:

• Experience providing trauma-informed advice and support.
• Understanding of hate crime and the barriers faced by those affected by prejudice or discrimination.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and risk issues related to victims of abuse or violence.
• Excellent listening, communication, and written skills.
• Strong organisational and time management abilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Confidence using IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
• A demonstrable commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice.
