Learning Support Specialist

Location: Hortensia Road

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £19 / hour – Umbrella

Hours: 18 hours per week

About the Role

We are looking for a caring, motivated and reliable Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive Further Education college. You’ll provide one-to-one and small group support to students with additional learning needs, helping them develop confidence, independence and achieve their educational goals.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a positive difference in learners’ lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group learning support.
  • Assist students with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Mental Health needs and other learning difficulties.
  • Support learners in and outside the classroom.
  • Encourage attendance, participation and independence.
  • Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Work closely with tutors and the Additional Learning Support team.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality and student wellbeing at all times.

About You

Essential

  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
  • Valid First Aid qualification.
  • Experience working with students in a supportive or educational environment.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • A positive, patient and flexible approach.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia, Mental Health needs or other additional learning needs.
  • Knowledge of Further or Adult Education.

Compliance

The successful applicant will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check, including a Barred List check.

A valid First Aid qualification is an essential requirement for this role.
