Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

£14 Hour

Location: Rotherham

Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (Term-Time Only)

Job Purpose

To support young people and adults (ages 16+) with diverse learning needs in an inclusive Further Education setting. You will help students overcome barriers to education, develop independent life skills, and achieve their academic or vocational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Academic Support: Help students understand course materials, assignments, and practical tasks in classrooms or workshops.
  • SEND Implementation: Deliver tailored support in line with student Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Independence Building: Encourage students to manage their own learning, time, and social interactions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with tutors, lecturers, and the additional learning support team to track student progress.
  • Access Arrangements: Assist students with exam accommodations, acting as a reader, scribe, or proctor when required.

Requirements

  • Education: GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Experience: Previous experience working with young people or vulnerable adults is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, patience, and the ability to adapt to changing classroom environments.
  • Compliance: Must hold or be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
