About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Adult Social Care (ASC) Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to join a safeguarding-focused service in Bexley on an initial 2-month contract.

The successful candidate will provide specialist support and advocacy to adults experiencing domestic abuse, particularly where there are concerns around vulnerability, safeguarding or care and support needs. You will work closely with Adult Social Care and other partner agencies to assess risk, develop safety plans and ensure appropriate support is in place.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist support, advocacy and information to adults experiencing domestic abuse.

• Complete comprehensive domestic abuse risk assessments and identify safeguarding concerns.

• Develop and review individual safety and support plans.

• Work closely with Adult Social Care and other relevant agencies to coordinate appropriate support.

• Advocate for victims and ensure their wishes, needs and safety remain central to the support provided.

• Provide advice and guidance to professionals around domestic abuse, risk and safeguarding.

• Make appropriate referrals to specialist and statutory services.

• Support effective multi-agency information sharing and risk management.

• Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date case records.

• Attend relevant safeguarding and multi-agency meetings where required.

• Manage a caseload effectively, prioritising cases according to risk and safeguarding needs.

Requirements

• Recognised IDVA qualification is essential.

• Valid DBS is required.

• Previous experience working as an IDVA is essential.

• Experience working with Adult Social Care, safeguarding or vulnerable adults.

• Strong understanding of domestic abuse, risk assessment and safety planning.

• Experience working within a multi-agency environment.

• Excellent communication, advocacy and partnership-working skills.

• Ability to manage sensitive and complex cases effectively.

• Available to start ASAP.
