The role as a Homeless Pathways Officer will be a key part of Birmingham’s Positive Pathways and Care Leavers Frameworks, providing a targeted, preventative approach to support young people before they reach a crisis point – becoming homeless or rough sleeping.
You will work proactively with Personal Advisors and care leavers who are at risk of homelessness, offering early intervention, guidance, and practical support to help them sustain accommodation or access suitable alternatives.
Work closely with Personal Advisors to identify care leavers who are precariously housed or at risk of homelessness.
Support young people before homelessness becomes imminent (within 56 days).
In exceptional cases, assist care leavers and Personal Advisors to navigate the statutory homelessness process.
Act as a key point of contact for housing advice and support for care leavers.
Provide tailored advice, guidance, and information to help young people make informed choices about their housing and futures.
Deliver outreach support to help young people maintain accommodation within their community.

Promote and uphold values of equality, diversity, inclusion, and empowerment.
We’re looking for a Homeless Pathways Officer who is:
Passionate about supporting young people and care leavers to achieve positive outcomes.
Knowledgeable about housing, homelessness prevention, and young people’s support services.
Able to build strong, trusting relationships with both care leavers and professionals.
Motivated, empathetic, and proactive in problem-solving.
Committed to delivering inclusive, person-centred, and psychologically informed support.
