English Lecturer

Location: Crawley

We are currently recruiting for an English Lecturer on behalf of a well-established Further Education College in Crawley. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced English professional to join a supportive FE environment and help learners develop the literacy, communication, and written skills they need to progress.

The role would suit an experienced FE lecturer, teacher, tutor, or education professional with strong subject knowledge and experience delivering English qualifications.

Education Requirements:

• A degree in English, English Literature, or a closely related subject.
• A recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent.
• A Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
• Relevant subject-specific or teaching qualifications would be desirable.

Experience Requirements:

• Experience teaching English within Further Education, secondary education, adult education, or a similar setting.
• Experience delivering English qualifications, such as GCSE, Functional Skills, or other relevant programmes.
• Experience planning and delivering engaging lessons to learners with a range of abilities.
• Strong subject knowledge and the ability to support learners to develop their literacy, communication, and written skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging English lessons across relevant FE programmes and qualification levels.
• Plan lessons, assess learner progress, and provide effective feedback to support positive outcomes.
• Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the needs of learners with a range of abilities and backgrounds.
• Support learners to develop their confidence, literacy, communication, and examination skills.
• Contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement initiatives, and the wider success of the English department.
