South Essex Colleges Group (SECG) is seeking an outstanding Commercial Director to lead and grow commercial operations across its subsidiary companies. As the largest provider of technical and vocational education in Essex, SECG’s vision is to be “the heart of community transformation”, shaping lives, strengthening communities, and empowering learners to achieve beyond their expectations.

In this pivotal role, you will develop and implement commercial strategies that strengthen employer partnerships, expand SECG’s workforce and skills offer, and create new income streams aligned with regional, national and international priorities. You will ensure that all commercial activity operates within strong governance and financial controls, supporting the Group’s long term sustainability and strategic objectives, including increasing market influence and enhancing social value.

Skills & Experience
• Proven experience of delivering commercial growth in a complex organisation.
• Strong financial, business and strategic leadership capabilities.
• Experience developing and sustaining employer or industry partnerships.
• Ability to inspire teams, drive performance and influence at senior levels.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving skills.

Qualifications
• A degree level qualification in business, commercial management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• A leadership or management qualification is desirable.

Experience in education, apprenticeships, skills or other regulated sectors is advantageous but not essential.
