Carpentry Lecturer

Location: Birmingham

Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary Ongoing

Rate: Competitive Hourly/Day Rate (DOE)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Carpentry Lecturer to join a leading Further Education college in Birmingham on a full-time, ongoing temporary basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Carpentry professional with a passion for education to inspire and develop the next generation of tradespeople. Whether you are an experienced Lecturer or a Carpenter looking to transition into teaching, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Carpentry and Joinery lessons to Further Education learners.
  • Teach both practical workshop sessions and classroom-based theory.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans and learning materials.
  • Assess learner progress and provide timely feedback and support.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within workshop environments.
  • Support learners in achieving their qualifications and career goals.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Relevant Carpentry and Joinery qualification (Level 3 or above).
  • Recent industry experience within carpentry, joinery, or construction.
  • Previous teaching, training, or assessing experience is desirable.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training) is advantageous, although applications from industry professionals looking to move into teaching are welcomed.
  • Assessing and/or IQA qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
