Pentagon Talent is working with a leading London-based law firm to recruit an Accounts Payable Clerk to join their Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-driven and organised individual to develop their career within a well-established law firm in London.

This Accounts Payable Clerk position offers a varied and hands-on role within a busy finance function of a growing law firm. Based in London, the Accounts Payable Clerk will take ownership of core accounts payable processes while supporting the wider team to ensure accuracy, efficiency and strong financial controls.

You will be working closely with colleagues across the business, building relationships and contributing to the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations, while also supporting ongoing improvements within the function.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the end-to-end processing of supplier invoices, ensuring accurate coding and appropriate approvals
• Taking responsibility for supplier account maintenance, including setting up new vendors and resolving any discrepancies through regular reconciliations
• Supporting and coordinating payment runs, ensuring deadlines are met and payments are processed accurately
• Reviewing and processing employee expense claims in line with company policy, including supporting documentation checks
• Handling queries from both internal stakeholders and external suppliers, providing timely and professional responses
• Overseeing the accounts payable inbox and prioritising workload effectively
• Assisting with corporate credit card reconciliations and ensuring transactions are correctly recorded
• Supporting banking activities, including transfers between accounts where required
• Working collaboratively with the wider finance team to maintain service levels and meet deadlines
• Contributing to process improvements and efficiencies within the accounts payable function

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience working in an Accounts Payable Clerk or Purchase Ledger role, ideally within a law firm or similar professional services environment
• Good understanding of core AP processes, including invoice processing, reconciliations and payment runs
• Familiarity with VAT and expense processing, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Confident using finance systems and Excel to manage and analyse data
• Ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced London-based environment
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams
• A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to support the wider finance function
