Job Title: Academic Support Worker

Location: Wolverhampton

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: Up to £35 per hour

About the Role

We are seeking a committed and student-focused Academic Support Worker to provide tailored academic assistance to learners. You will support students in overcoming barriers to learning, helping them build confidence, develop study skills, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group academic support sessions
  • Assist students with coursework, assignments, and study techniques
  • Support learners with additional needs, including learning difficulties or disabilities
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to implement individual learning plans
  • Help students develop organisational, time management, and independent learning skills
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate support records
  • Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Requirements

  • Degree or relevant qualification in Education or a related field
  • Experience supporting learners in an educational or training setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a student-centred approach
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) learners
  • Knowledge of different learning strategies and support techniques
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and digital learning tools
  • Experience in further or higher education settings
