About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised and detail-oriented Compliance & Billing Assistant to join a busy team within the utilities sector.
This role would suit someone with experience in administration, billing, finance or compliance who is looking to develop their skills in a regulated environment. You will support the accurate preparation of customer bills, assist with tariff administration and help ensure processes and records meet relevant regulatory requirements.
Assist with the preparation of monthly non-domestic customer bills, ensuring billing information is accurate and complete.
Review meter readings, consumption data, tariffs, standing charges, taxes and customer account details, investigating discrepancies where required.
Support customer onboarding, changes of tenancy, contract amendments, account closures and final billing.
Assist with the preparation and regular updating of domestic tariffs.
Complete billing reconciliations and exception reports, escalating errors and recurring issues where necessary.
Maintain compliance registers, supporting documentation, procedures and action trackers.
Assist with monitoring compliance against relevant industry regulations, consumer protection requirements, data protection obligations and internal policies.
Support regulatory submissions, information requests, audits and assurance reviews by gathering accurate information and maintaining clear audit trails.
Monitor deadlines and follow up with colleagues to ensure actions are completed on time.
Record incidents, complaints and corrective actions, escalating concerns in line with company procedures.
Help ensure customer communications, billing templates and operational processes remain accurate and compliant.
Provide general administrative support and assist with other duties as required.
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience in an administrative, billing, finance or compliance support role.
Strong numerical and data-handling skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and investigate issues.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and working with databases or account management systems.
A methodical approach to maintaining accurate records and following procedures.
The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
Experience in the utilities sector, particularly in electricity billing or regulatory compliance, would be beneficial but is not essential.
This is a great opportunity to build your experience across billing and compliance, develop your knowledge of industry regulations and contribute to the smooth running of essential operational processes.
If you are detail-focused, enjoy working with data and administration, and are looking for your next opportunity, we would love to hear from you.
