**Job Title:** Curriculum Manager (4 days per week pro-rata)

**Location:** Walthamstow, London

Every learner participates in personal development programme alongside their vocational studies. Its purpose is bigger than preparing young people to pass a qualification: we want to develop rounded, informed, and reflective human beings with the knowledge, skills, and behaviour’s to build positive relationships with themselves, others, and the world around them, and to lead purposeful lives with integrity.

Our established curriculum explores the issues young people encounter locally and the bigger questions that shape their lives and society: relationships, identity, sex and sexual health, mental health, politics, citizenship, equality, media, religion and ethics, finance, climate and sustainability, alongside emerging social and cultural issues.

Personal Development was graded Outstanding by Ofsted in 2023, with inspectors recognising the quality of the social and personal development program and learner’s ability to engage sensitively with controversial and emotive subjects.

You will inherit an established and successful program, but this is not a job for simply delivering the existing PowerPoints. We want a curriculum leader who understands what makes the program successful, protects its strongest foundations, and has the intellectual curiosity, educational judgement, presence, and ambition to take it somewhere new.

The Role

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of the Personal Development programme across the 16-19 Study Programme.
• Directly teach approximately 12-14 hours each week
• Ensure the curriculum remains live, relevant, inclusive, and appropriately challenging.
• Utilise learner voice, research, current affairs, and external expertise to inform curriculum development.
• Facilitate difficult conversations while maintaining a structured learning environment.
• Create safe spaces for young people to question, disagree, reflect, and develop their thinking.
• Oversee resources and delivery for subcontracted Study Programme provision.
• Support the development and delivery of an appropriate PSHE curriculum.

The Person

• Substantial successful experience in education, personal development, PSHE, or related fields.
• Evidence of engaging learners effectively with complex and sensitive subjects.
• Understanding of the pressures and opportunities facing young people today
• Strong educational background with a focus on personal development education.
• Experience in designing and/or delivering education or related learning for young people.
• Ability to engage learners effectively with complex and sensitive subject matter.
• Intellectual curiosity and educational judgement.
• Experience in leadership roles within educational settings is advantageous
• Relevant degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related field.
• Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent) preferred.
