Maths Lecturer – Temporary Position

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Maths Lecturer to join a Further Education college on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Maths teaching to FE learners, supporting their academic development and helping them achieve their qualifications.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Maths Lecturer who enjoys working with students from diverse backgrounds and is committed to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons across relevant FE programmes and levels.
  • Teach GCSE, Functional Skills and/or vocational Maths as required.
  • Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching materials and assessments.
  • Assess learners’ work and provide constructive feedback to support their progress.
  • Monitor learner attendance, achievement and development.
  • Provide additional support to learners who require help with Maths.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner progress and assessment.
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum teams and other teaching staff.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement.
  • Promote equality, diversity, safeguarding and learner wellbeing within the college.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree or recognised qualification in Mathematics or a related subject.
  • Teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent is desirable/required depending on college requirements.
  • Previous experience teaching Maths within Further Education, sixth form, adult education or a similar setting.
  • Experience delivering GCSE Maths and/or Functional Skills Maths.
  • Strong knowledge of Maths curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Excellent communication, classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners with varying levels of ability.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and creating an inclusive learning environment.
