Electrician – Housing Property Services

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a qualified Electrician to join a forward-thinking Housing Property Services team.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will play an important part in ensuring homes and corporate properties remain safe, compliant, well maintained and operating efficiently.

Working closely with the wider repairs and maintenance team, you will undertake a broad range of electrical work, from responsive maintenance and emergency repairs through to planned improvements, installations and upgrade projects.

Your skills and expertise will directly contribute to maintaining and improving the quality and safety of residential and corporate properties while delivering a professional, reliable service.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide operational electrical maintenance services across a range of properties, undertaking work in accordance with allocated works orders, relevant regulations, health and safety requirements, and approved working practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical maintenance and repair works in accordance with works order specifications.
  • Undertake individual or joint electrical installation, maintenance, inspection and testing tasks.
  • Complete all work in accordance with current Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Complete relevant reports, certificates and documentation using electronic/mobile devices.
  • Order required materials and identify or request any necessary follow-on works.
  • Undertake a variety of electrical work, including:
    • Responsive and emergency repairs
    • Routine servicing, maintenance, inspection and testing
    • Planned installation and remedial works
    • Void property works
  • Complete works orders in accordance with applicable schedules of rates.
  • Maintain company vehicles appropriately, including cleaning, checking fluid levels and completing relevant documentation.
  • Follow all asbestos-related procedures and maintain the required level of training and competency.
  • Attend team briefings, toolbox talks and training sessions as required.
  • Work safely at all times and comply with relevant health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all required PPE, tools and equipment are maintained and used correctly.
  • Provide a professional and customer-focused service when working in occupied properties.

Essential Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent
  • City & Guilds 2382 – 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • City & Guilds 2391 – Inspection, Testing and Certification or equivalent

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Recognised electrical qualifications as detailed above.
  • Practical experience of electrical inspection and testing.
  • Experience within domestic, housing maintenance or property maintenance environments.
  • A willingness to undertake Category B asbestos awareness/training as required.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and training in response to changes in legislation, regulations and industry standards.
  • Good spoken English and numeracy skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A good understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • The ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team.
  • Confidence using mobile devices and electronic systems to complete works orders and documentation.
  • An understanding of equality, diversity and the different needs of customers and colleagues.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
  • A full, valid driving licence.
