Carpentry Lecturer

Location: West Durrington, Worthing

Salary: up to £45 per hour

Contract: Full-time/Temporary

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Carpentry Lecturer to join our teaching team and inspire the next generation of skilled carpenters.

You will deliver high-quality practical and theoretical training to learners across a range of carpentry and joinery programmes, supporting them to develop the technical skills, knowledge and professional behaviours required to succeed in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in carpentry and joinery, including practical workshop-based training.
  • Teach and assess learners in line with relevant qualifications and awarding-body requirements.
  • Demonstrate safe and effective use of carpentry tools, machinery, materials and equipment.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support learners to achieve their full potential.
  • Maintain a safe, organised and professional workshop environment.
  • Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate assessment and attendance records.
  • Support learners with developing employability and industry-ready skills.
  • Keep up to date with developments in carpentry, construction practices, legislation and industry standards.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement.

About You

We are looking for someone who can combine strong industry experience with excellent teaching and communication skills.

You will ideally have:

  • Significant practical experience in carpentry and/or joinery.
  • A relevant Level 2/3 qualification or equivalent industry experience.
  • A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience of assessing or supporting learners would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements within a workshop environment.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for helping others learn and develop.
