Location: Sussex

Salary: £40 P/H

Contract: Temporary – full time

Start Date: August/September

We are currently working with a respected Further Education College in Sussex that is looking to appoint a passionate and dedicated English Lecturer to join their team on a temporary basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced lecturer or an industry professional looking to inspire the next generation of learners. You will deliver engaging and inclusive English lessons to students across a range of Further Education programmes, supporting them to develop the literacy, communication and analytical skills they need to succeed in education, employment and beyond.

The Role

As an English Lecturer, you will:

• Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons to students aged 16+.
• Teach GCSE English Language and/or Functional Skills English.
• Create engaging learning experiences that motivate students of varying abilities.
• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support achievement.
• Prepare learners for examinations and assessments.
• Contribute to curriculum development and departmental quality improvement.
• Maintain accurate student records and meet college administrative requirements.
• Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who has:

• A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent), or willingness to work towards one.
• A relevant English qualification at Level 5 or above.
• Experience teaching English within a Further Education or Secondary Education setting.
• Experience delivering GCSE and/or Functional Skills English.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting learners to achieve their full potential.
