SEND Lecturer – East London

Temporary Ongoing | Full-Time or Part-Time | Start September

We’re partnering with a number of well-established Further Education colleges across East London to recruit passionate and dedicated SEND Lecturers for temporary ongoing opportunities starting in September.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting young people and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to develop their academic, vocational, social, and independent living skills. You’ll deliver engaging, inclusive lessons that are tailored to meet individual learning needs, helping students build confidence, achieve their goals, and progress into further education, employment, or greater independence.

Working as part of a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team, you’ll contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and inspiring learning environment where every learner is encouraged to reach their full potential.

What’s on offer:

  • Competitive hourly rate, dependent on experience
  • Flexible working options – full-time or part-time available
  • Ongoing temporary assignments with the potential for extension
  • Supportive leadership teams and collaborative teaching environments
  • Opportunities to work across a range of respected Further Education colleges in East London

The Role:

  • Deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching to learners with a range of SEND, including autism, learning disabilities, SEMH, and other additional needs
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes and learning goals
  • Foster learners’ confidence, independence, communication, employability, and life skills
  • Work closely with Learning Support Assistants, therapists, curriculum teams, parents/carers, and external agencies to provide a holistic learning experience
  • Monitor learner progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to reviews and assessments
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of teaching and learning

Requirements:

  • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent) is desirable
  • Experience teaching or supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, ideally within a Further Education or specialist education setting
  • Proven ability to work confidently within a complex, multi-disciplinary educational environment, supporting learners with diverse needs while adapting teaching strategies to maximise engagement and achievement
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices, differentiation, positive behaviour support, and person-centred learning
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

If you’re passionate about empowering learners with SEND and are available to start in September, we’d love to hear from you.
