Learning Support Mentor

Location: Cambridge

Salary: Competitive

We are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Mentor on behalf of a well-established Further Education College in Cambridge. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and supportive individual to join a dedicated Learning Support team, providing high-quality support to learners studying within Construction and Motor Vehicle provision.

This rewarding role will involve supporting students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, helping them to access their studies, develop independence, and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work across a variety of learning environments, including practical workshops, specialist training facilities, classrooms, and, where required, off-site learning activities.

Experience of, or a genuine interest in, Construction and/or Motor Vehicle environments would be highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality learning support to students with additional learning needs across Construction and Motor Vehicle workshops, classrooms, and other learning environments.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and curriculum teams to ensure students can fully access and engage with their programmes of study.
  • Support learners with study skills, organisation, assistive technologies, communication, and the development of independent learning strategies.
  • Promote confidence, resilience, self-advocacy, and safe participation within practical and vocational learning environments.
  • Maintain accurate records, monitor student progress, and contribute to reviews of support strategies and learner outcomes.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience supporting young people or adults within education, training, care, or support settings.
  • An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, a range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, flexible, and supportive approach.
  • Strong organisational and IT skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Experience of, or a genuine interest in, Construction and/or Motor Vehicle environments.
