Job Title: Business Development Manager

Location: South East London

About the Role / Job Summary:

We are looking for a driven and commercially focused Business Development Manager to grow our footprint across the construction sector. You will play a key role in developing employer partnerships, identifying skills gaps, and creating opportunities for apprenticeships, training programs, and workforce development solutions. This is a high-impact role suited to someone who understands the construction industry and thrives on building long-term employer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage relationships with construction employers (SMEs and larger contractors)
  • Identify new business opportunities and convert leads into training partnerships
  • Promote apprenticeship and training programs aligned to employer needs
  • Work closely with internal delivery teams to ensure a high-quality employer experience
  • Manage a pipeline of opportunities, tracking progress and conversion rates
  • Represent the organization at industry events, networking groups, and employer forums
  • Contribute to sector growth strategies and employer engagement plans

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or employer engagement
  • Strong knowledge of the construction sector (e.g., trades, contractors, supply chain)
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding targets
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to identify employer needs and translate them into solutions
  • Self-motivated, organized, and results-driven
  • Experience working within apprenticeships, training, or further education
  • Existing network within construction employers
  • Understanding of funding or workforce development initiatives

Education Requirements:

  • Level 3 or above, preferably in a sales-related subject
  • Level 2 English and maths
  • A full driving license and use of a car

Experience Requirements:

  • Significant experience in business development or sales within the education or training sector
  • Established relationships in the construction industry
  • Experience in managing projects and stakeholder engagement
