💷 Salary: £25,992 – £28,163 FTE
(Actual salary £19,452 – £21,064)

📄 Contract: Term Time Only – 39 weeks

Hours: 37 hours per week

📍 Location: Multiple campuses (travel required)

💡 The Role

This SEN college is seeking a compassionate and proactive Progress Coach to provide comprehensive pastoral and wellbeing support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Working across multiple campuses, the Progress Coach will help students overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and resilience, and engage fully with their studies and future employment pathways.

The role involves working closely with curriculum teams, families, and external professionals to ensure each student receives holistic, personalised support.

🤝 Key Responsibilities

Pastoral Support

  • Provide one-to-one pastoral support following referral from staff
  • Deliver early intervention sessions supporting personal, social, and emotional needs
  • Provide tailored support for students with SEND
  • Develop and implement strategies to remove barriers to learning and promote progress

Wellbeing & Signposting

  • Deliver wellbeing sessions and assess individual needs
  • Signpost students to appropriate external agencies for additional support

📚 Curriculum Engagement

  • Support students to engage with the curriculum
  • Help students develop strategies for academic success

💼 Benefits Support

  • Support students to explore and apply for eligible benefits, including Access to Work
  • Guide students through benefit application processes

📣 Advocacy & Liaison

  • Liaise with curriculum and support staff to advocate for student needs
  • Ensure student voices are heard and needs are met within the college

🧠 Tutorial Delivery

  • Deliver tutorials focused on social and character development
  • Develop engaging materials to support social and emotional growth

🎯 Personal Development & Action Plans

  • Support students to create personalised action plans
  • Provide guidance on self-esteem, relationships, and coping strategies

👥 Group Support Sessions

  • Facilitate small group sessions to build resilience and community
  • Encourage peer support and collaborative problem-solving

👨‍👩‍👧 Family & Professional Collaboration

  • Work with families and external professionals to provide holistic support
  • Maintain regular communication with families on student progress

🚗 Travel

  • Travel between multiple campuses
  • Use own vehicle and ensure appropriate insurance and documentation

🎓 Qualifications

  • Level 2 or above Counselling qualification (or equivalent)
  • English and Maths at Level 2 or above
  • Valid driving licence and access to own car

  • Experience in a pastoral or counselling role
  • Experience supporting students
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload
  • Valid driving licence and access to own car

Desirable

  • Experience working in an educational setting
  • Experience supporting students with SEND
  • Knowledge of study programmes and student support strategies
  • Understanding of student benefits and application processes
  • Experience delivering tutorial or group sessions
