Together we are seeking to appoint a Male SEN Support Specialist– in East London – Apply Today !

Job Title: SEN Support Specialist – Male
Job Type: Temporary
Location: East London

Length of Contract: Temporary – Ongoing

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide tailored support to individual or groups of students with special educational needs in a classroom setting across various levels and subjects.
  2. Encourage independent working where appropriate, while ensuring the safety and comfort of students at all times.
  3. Keep accurate records of student progress, attendance, and support provided, monitoring any necessary adjustments.
  4. Promote positive interaction and participation among students, helping them engage in class activities led by the lecturer.
  5. Assist with the general pastoral care of students, offering emotional and social support as needed.
  6. Encourage positive behavior and uphold the College’s behavior policy, setting high standards for students’ work and conduct.
  7. Reinforce learning by helping students practice and apply previously taught skills.
  8. Participate in College visits and functions, supporting both students and lecturers during these activities.

Skills & Experience:

  1. A willingness to work towards or already possess a Literacy and Numeracy qualification at Level 2 or above.
  2. A relevant support qualification or the willingness to undertake the necessary training.
  3. Basic IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and basic internet searches.
  4. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  5. A strong commitment to supporting students with disabilities or learning difficulties.
  6. Previous relevant experience working in an educational setting is preferred.
  7. Motivated to continuously improve and develop through training and professional development.
  8. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  9. Basic knowledge of First Aid, food hygiene, and Health and Safety, or a willingness to complete relevant training.
  10. A strong understanding of equal opportunities and safeguarding initiatives.
  11. DBS certificate (Enhanced and on update service) is required.
