Senior Policy Adviser

Location: Remote (UK-wide)

Rate: £35.97 per hour (Umbrella)

Working Pattern: Flexible – 4 or 5 days per week

Contract: Temporary for approximately 4 months


About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Policy Adviser to join a leading regulatory body, working at the forefront of policy development in a complex and evolving landscape.

Reporting into the Policy Manager, you will lead high-impact policy projects, providing expert advice on legislative, regulatory, and governance issues. This is a fantastic opportunity to influence national-level policy and contribute to informed debate across the UK.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver policy development projects from scoping through to completion
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis using qualitative and quantitative data
  • Analyse legislation, regulatory frameworks, and emerging policy trends
  • Monitor external developments and provide timely insight to internal teams
  • Produce high-quality reports, briefings, and consultation responses
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather input and ensure policy alignment
  • Build and maintain relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders
  • Provide clear, evidence-based policy advice to senior decision-makers

About You

We are looking for a policy professional who can operate confidently in a fast-paced and complex environment.

Essential:

  • Experience in policy development or a relevant degree-level qualification
  • Strong understanding of UK legislation and policy-making processes
  • Proven experience working with or analysing legislation
  • Proven ability to analyse complex information and present clear insights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience interpreting legislation and translating it into practical guidance
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a regulatory body
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders or decision-makers
  • Knowledge of UK political systems and devolved structures
  • Experience working on or contributing to the development of legislation
  • Exposure to international or comparative policy research
