The Greater Birmingham & Solihull Institute of Technology (GBSIoT) is a cutting-edge collaboration between Higher and Further education and industry, driving innovation in Higher Technical education.  

The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and technically skilled Operations Manager to lead the operational delivery of the GBSIoT Hub.  You will play a pivotal role in supporting education partners, managing advanced technical facilities, and driving impactful engagement across a wide range of stakeholders.

 Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the operational management and continuous improvement of the GBSIoT Hub and CPMR.
  • Provide strategic and hands-on technical support across. educational programmes, research, and employer-led innovation.
  • Collaborate with academic teams to integrate advanced manufacturing technologies into curriculum and research.
  • Drive business outreach and industry engagement to develop high-quality, employer-led projects.
  • Ensure daily readiness and safety of the CPMR and associated facilities.
  • Represent GBSIoT as an ambassador in all external partnerships.

 What We’re Looking For

 Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum level 5/Degree in Electrical engineering degree or be a certified electrician.
  • Experience of other Engineering and/or Computing disciplines.
  • Proven experience with automation and robotics in Advanced Manufacturing.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365 and hardware/software troubleshooting.
  • Experience in training delivery and operational management.
  • Sound knowledge of Industry 4.0 and Health & Safety practices.

 Desirable

  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Membership of a professional body.
  • Teaching or Assessor qualifications.
  • Experience in curriculum development and stakeholder engagement.
