Criminal Justice Community Keyworker – Hertfordshire & Essex

Criminal Justice Community Keyworker

Locations Available:

  • Chelmsford (covering Colchester and Chelmsford)
  • Chelmsford (covering Basildon and Southend)
  • Waltham Cross (covering Waltham Cross and Harlow)

Pay Rate: £18 – £20 per hour (via umbrella)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Temporary – ongoing

Working Hours: 35 hours per week – Hybrid model (1 day working from home)

Overview:

A well-respected charity focused on supporting women within the Criminal Justice System is seeking Community Keyworkers to join their dedicated team. This role involves working with women on probation or those transitioning from prison back into the community under Post Sentence Supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering both in-reach services and ‘Through the Gate’ support for women leaving custody
  • Collaborating with other Community Keyworkers across the region
  • Offering personalised, holistic one-to-one support to women with complex needs
  • Providing safe spaces at women’s centres and working alongside specialist services and partners
  • Managing a caseload and supporting women either in custody or supervised by the National Probation Service
  • Working closely with local agencies and services to create robust referral networks and coordinated support
  • Engaging with women in community settings and co-locating with partner organisations, including Probation Services, as well as participating in activities at the North London Women’s Centre

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of the criminal justice system and associated support networks
  • Proven experience supporting vulnerable individuals
  • Competence in caseload management
  • Ability to identify and act on safeguarding issues
  • Experience working within multi-agency and legal frameworks
  • An Enhanced DBS for both adults and children (either on the update service or issued within the last 12 months)
  • Essential: Must hold EL1 vetting (for prison/police environments) and have worked in a vetted role within the last 6 months
