Night Support Worker – Young People’s Service

📍 Location: Lewisham, SE14

💷 Pay: £17.72ph PAYE (+holiday pay = £19.8ph) / £23.39ph Umbrella

🕒 Contract Length: 13 weeks

🌙 Shift Pattern: 20:15 – 07:45 (including some weekends on a rota)

🚉 Nearest Station: New Cross Gate (8-10 mins walk)

🚗 Driving Licence & Car: Not essential

🔐 DBS: Enhanced – Adults & Children

Are you a calm, compassionate professional with a passion for supporting vulnerable young people during the night?

We’re seeking a dedicated Night Support Worker to join a 5-bed supported housing service in Lewisham. You’ll be supporting 16-17-year-olds at risk of homelessness and care leavers aged 18-21, providing vital overnight support to ensure their safety and wellbeing.

🔹 What You’ll Do

  • Provide overnight supervision and a reassuring presence for young residents.
  • Empower residents through informal 1:1 support and by promoting healthy routines.
  • Promote independence by encouraging life skills even in late hours (e.g., preparing for appointments, night-time routines).
  • Support emotional wellbeing, using a trauma-informed approach during crises or when offering guidance.
  • Conduct welfare checks, log incidents, and manage any emergencies responsibly.
  • Assist with benefit applications and appointments as part of handovers or follow-up.
  • Maintain property standards – complete safety checks and report maintenance needs.
  • Support rent collection and promote financial responsibility.
  • Safeguard residents, escalating concerns appropriately in line with procedures.

🔹 What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with vulnerable young people, ideally in housing or supported accommodation.
  • Ability to manage lone working overnight with professionalism and care.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and risk management.
  • Calm under pressure, with strong communication and record-keeping skills.

🔹 Additional Info

  • This is an on-site, overnight role – no remote working.
  • You will work at a single, supported accommodation property.
  • Mileage claims (if applicable) are calculated from the nearest office to the property.
  • Reporting to the Team Leader and Service Lead.
