Job Title:                  Finance Assistant             

Reports to:               Head of Finance

Location:                  To be confirmed upon appointment

 

Job Purpose

 

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Assistant is responsible for ensuring the Finance Department’s administrative functions and record keeping are maintained and updated.  This extends to data input, systems usage and filing systems upkeep.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Record keeping, filing & data input and updates
  • Budget code integrity and processing
  • Processing income and expenditure on the bank statements
  • Liaise with internal budget holders & external companies for invoice administration
  • Recording income from pay sources, processing, reconciling, and chasing late payers
  • Timely processing of the “yellow slips” second-posting from the Membership department
  • Administration of the union’s benefits to include calculation and payment of child benefit, bereavement benefit and other LCB calculations
  • Regular posting of sundry bank items leading to monthly computerised bank reconciliations
  • Cover provided for Finance Assistant & Finance Apprentice roles during absences

 

 

Other Duties

 

  • Administration of the Sales invoices – setting up word documents, supply invoice numbers and chase up late payers
  • Download Unity Bank Statements and urgent bank payments
  • To assist Finance Officer and learn specific parts of this role as directed by Head of Finance
  • Any other duties as requested by the Head of Finance
  • Compliance with the union’s GDPR policy and practices
